getting a tad excited about.......

.....Christmas! Yeah, I know, I'm a bit premature but Im just in a Christmas mood today, planning the next More Than A Mama Christmas fayres (we have 2, our usual morning fayre on 20 Nov and a festive evening event with twinkly lights and tinsel on 9 Dec!). I'm also excited, and a little scared, of my first We Make fair on 5 Dec at Chelsea Town Hall...........I so need to get my sewing head on.....! Today I've also posted an article over on a local website called Berkhamsted People, all about the MTAM gang. I must really stop all this talking and start making instead!

I'm back!

My stall

I've been underground for a bit, busy sewing and preparing for the lastest More Than A Mama fayre last Thurs. We had a great turn out and I sold out of my hairclip holders, I just wish I'd made more than the 14 I had made! There were lots of wonderful stalls there, unfortunately I was placed next to the handmade chocolates and almost opposite the handmade cupcakes........ I bet you can guess what my diet consisted of that day!

Sleepy Monsters

I made a variation of my Toothy Monsters.....The Sleepy Monster! At my last couple of fairs a few people bought a Tooth Fairy Monster to use for the Sleep Fairy instead, trying to encourage their little ones to sleep through the night (or at least remain in their rooms!). So, instead of a pocket eye for the tooth, the Sleepy Monster has a pocket mouth for a treat from the Sleep Fairy.
I could really do with trying this out on my youngest. I can count on 2 hands the number of nights she has slept by herself in her own room since she was born!

Toothy Monsters

My one eyed pet creature keyrings were out in force too!

I've had a little burst of Christmas energy too and made a few little cottages to add to my festive creations.

Now, I will be getting on with the orders I had put on hold in order to sew, sew, sew like a mad woman in time for the fair. Thank you lovely customers for being so patient. Outstanding orders will go out this week.

Bye for now,

a new creature has been born....

I'm on a bit of a roll today, trying to get new items in my shops and generate some Christmas funds!! Also, I've been making name garlands non-stop, which of course I love, otherwise I wouldn't do it, but now and then I feel the need to create something different, and here he is........ my pet creature keyring/fob.
He has a message for you:

Hello, I'm ready and waiting to be your pet.

Clip me to your school bag, hand bag, purse, belt, clip me anywhere and I will always have a smile for you :o)

I am small, I admit, but I'm pretty cute with it.

I measure about 9cms/3.5" long and 7.5cms/3" wide and I'm handmade from cool fabrics and ribbons with a felt eye, yup, just the one eye, and a big felt smile.

I'm ready to be your pal. I have bro's too, they can be made in different colours, but they are all cool.
I live in the UK at the moment, but I'm willing to travel. Just allow a bit longer for me to get there!

Any Q's ask my maker, she's friendly and doesn't bite (much).
Nice to meet ya.

finally .....

At last, I've got round to adding a few new items to my shops on Etsy and Folksy. It's never too early for Christmas!!

More Than a Mama Christmas!

The More than a Mama's have recently had a photo shoot for our forthcoming fayres at the end of Nov and beginning of Dec. I made the 'noel' robins banner and gingie for the shoot and fellow Mama, Nevie-Pie Cakes made such a beautiful cake.......

.....that I felt inspired to make a felt homage to her cute deer.

I think I'd rather eat the cake myself, but maybe I'll turn my felt version into a brooch, or a decoration, or a card embellishment........

NEW Cupcakes.......

I've been dying to make this cupcake banner ever since neviepiecakes won my raffle prize at our first More Than a Mama fayre. The prize was to have a name banner made in the name of her choice. Neviepiecakes asked for a banner for her daughters birthday and requested cupcakes instead of my usual hearts and stars and here is the result. She also said to 'go wild' with the colour, so I did! I made it lovely and bright,I hope the birthday girl likes it.......I really enjoyed making it and will add the design to my shops soon.

swap catch up

Over the summer I've been involved in a few crafty swaps, a couple of private swaps with my pals over on flickr and one with a group of crafters called the handmade co. again on flickr/swap-bot.
My 2 assigned swapees for the handmade co. were sent these red and white offerings for our latest colour themed swap.
There are 3 FQ's, a sheet of felt and a smaller fabric piece red with little white flowers, ribbons, sequins, buttons, paper flowers, dotty cake cases, a nice big bar of chocolate (they are lucky the choc made it into the packages without me scoffing them first!) and 2 little handmade items, a white gingerbread man, maybe a shortcake man and a mushroom/cupcake - I'm not sure which it looks more like, but either of those will do! Obviously I'm really looking forward to receiving a couple of gorgeous red and white parcels too, I will be sure to post pics. In fact here's one of them, from Carla Delgado, isn't it gorgeous, with a beautifully scented pillow for putting in my fabric drawer.
And here is my second parcel received from Finland, thank you memmu :o)

I also had a private swap with a flickr friend, she asked for a name garland for her beautiful baby boy and in return she would send me a stash of sewing supplies..... well, here is the package I sent.....

....I added a little 'a' for my friend and a wee little dino hanging decoration for the nursery. Well now, take a look at the huge booty I received in return.... eyes nearly popped out of my head. A huge bundle of gorgeous fabrics and felts, plus some yummy ribbons, buttons, sequins, gorgeous necklaces for my 2 girls and sweets AND a lovely flower brooch for me...........I only wish I had sent dear Angela more!!! This swapping malarky is soooooo much fun, I can tell ya. I have sent another swap too to another flickr friend (I know, I have 4 of them!) and will post pics as soon as I've received the booty. Happy swapping!

thinking forward......

(felt spider finger puppet)
With the girls back at school and nursery tomorrow, I should be making sure shoes are polished and uniform is pressed, but I find myself thinking about Halloween and Christmas instead!

So I thought I'd show you some of my new seasonal creations in the making, plenty more to follow!

('boo' bat banner and little hanging spiders)

I've been making a couple of Christmas items too, I'm not normally so organised but we needed a new 'Christmas' themed photo for the Nov and Dec More Than a Mama fayres. I was making a 'deck the halls' banner but ran out of time, so I will save that for another posting!

The return of the gingerbread man, this years version has a cute gingham bow and pink cheeks, not yet in my shops but coming soon.....

back to reality.......

We are just back from a week by the seaside, the English seaside at that and, unbelievably, we had sun, sun, sun. Back to business now though, no more days on the beach for a while. Living in Hertfordshire, we are about as far from the seaside as you could be!
We've had a lovely summer, but we are now looking forward to our return to school this week, hurrah!!
